🌐Video Consultations

The NHS offers a convenient pharmacy service for a range of common conditions and contraception requests. This allows you to access treatment quickly without needing a GP appointment.

You can use this free NHS service via a video consultation through My Local Surgery.
If medication is prescribed, it will be delivered to your home free of charge, usually the next working day.

💧Video Consultation for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Are you experiencing:

  • Burning or stinging when passing urine?
  • Strong-smelling urine?
  • Needing to pass urine more frequently, or difficulty passing urine?

Eligibility: Women aged 16–64 only.


🤒Video consultation for sore throat

  • Pain when swallowing
  • Dry, scratchy throat
  • Redness or swelling at the back of the throat

Eligibility: Aged 5 years and over.


😷Video consultation for sinus infection (Sinusitis)

  • Blocked or congested nose
  • Reduced sense of smell
  • Pain or pressure in the face (cheeks, forehead, or around the eyes)
  • May also be associated with toothache or a high temperature

🦟Video consultation for infected insect bite

Recent insect bite that has become:

  • Red
  • Swollen
  • Painful
  • Worsening rather than improving

🧴Video consultation for impetigo

Impetigo is a highly contagious skin infection. Symptoms include:

  • Red sores or blisters
  • Itching or irritation
  • Sores that burst and form a golden crust

It can spread easily through touch, clothing, or towels, so care is needed to prevent transmission.

  • Painful red rash, often in clusters
  • Blisters that may burst and form crusts
  • Can resemble chickenpox

Shingles can be very painful and may require treatment to manage symptoms.


💊Video consultation for contraception requests

You do not need to see a GP or nurse for most contraception needs.

Use the online consultation to:

  • Renew your existing contraceptive pill
  • Start the contraceptive pill for the first time
  • Restart the pill after a break
