Title: Research Opportunity for Women Aged 60 and Over – A-PATH Study

We are sharing details of a national research study that may be of interest to some of our patients.

A-PATH: A PATH Towards Healing and Support for Older Women is a research study funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The study is led by UCL in partnership with the University of Bristol, Swansea University, Queen Mary University of London, Hourglass and the WI.

Who is the study for?

The study is looking for women aged 60 and over who have experienced, or may be experiencing, harmful or controlling behaviour from a partner or former partner.

Your experiences can help researchers understand what support works best and how to adapt an existing wellbeing programme for older women.

What does taking part involve?

If you join the study, you can try one of two types of support:

  • Practical support — help to understand your options and access services
  • Practical and emotional support — practical help plus additional sessions focused on emotional and psychological wellbeing

You will also be invited to share your views on what makes it easier or harder to get the support you need.
