Our Mackworth Branch Surgery will be temporarily closed from Tuesday 11 August to Friday 14 August 2026 due to the forecast extreme temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C, and we have concerns about the temperature within the Mackworth branch building and the safety and wellbeing of both patients and staff.
Our branch site has two clinical rooms and limited natural ventilation and no effective flow of air through the building. Opening doors or windows is not a suitable solution because of the need to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
This temporary closure is therefore a precautionary health and safety measure to protect the safety and wellbeing of our patients and staff, particularly following a previous incident where a member of staff became unwell and collapsed at the surgery during a period of extreme heat.
What does this mean for patients?
The main practice site at Burton Road remains open and you can continue to contact us as normal.

Please do not attend the Mackworth branch site unless you have been specifically advised to do so.
Our Burton Road site will remain open as normal.
We are continuing to work towards sourcing a suitable air-conditioning solution for the Mackworth branch site, so that we can provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff during future periods of high temperatures.
We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and thank you for your understanding. Our priority is the safety of our patients and staff.
We will provide further updates if the situation changes.
