Mackworth Surgery will be temporarily closed from Tuesday 11 August to Friday 14 August 2026 due to the forecast extreme temperatures.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 30°C this week, and we have concerns about the temperature within the Mackworth building and the safety and wellbeing of both patients and staff.
This decision has been made as a precautionary health and safety measure, particularly given the previous incident where a member of staff became unwell and collapsed at the surgery during a period of extreme heat.
We are continuing to work to find a suitable air-conditioning solution for the Mackworth building so that we can provide a safe and comfortable environment during future periods of high temperatures.
What does this mean for patients?
If you have an appointment booked at Mackworth Surgery this week, our team will contact you directly to advise you of the arrangements.
Please do not attend Mackworth Surgery unless you have been advised to do so.
Our Burton Road site will remain open as normal.
We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and appreciate your understanding. The decision has been made with the safety of our patients and staff as our priority.
We will provide further updates if the situation changes.
