What is a PPG?
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients who work with the practice to help improve services, access, and patient experience.
At Horizon Healthcare, we are developing a modern, digital PPG to ensure we hear from a broad and representative range of our patients, not just those able to attend meetings in person.
Our aim is to involve patients in shaping how services are delivered, particularly around:
- Access to appointments
- Communication and information
- Online services and digital access
- Overall patient experience
We also want to work collaboratively with patients to build a better understanding of how general practice operates, including the challenges and pressures faced by GP services. This helps ensure feedback and improvements are realistic, effective, and benefit the wider patient population.
Our Approach
We are currently building a digital Patient Participation Group, designed to be:
- Accessible – no need to attend in-person meetings
- Inclusive – open to all patients across different age groups, backgrounds, and health needs
- Flexible – participate as much or as little as you like
Engagement will primarily take place online, allowing more patients to share feedback at a time that suits them.
Why Join?
By joining our PPG, you can:
- Share your views on how the practice is run
- Help shape improvements to services
- Provide feedback on new ideas and changes
- Represent the views of your community
You do not need any specific experience, just a willingness to share constructive feedback.
How We Will Work
We will:
- Share updates, ideas, and questions with members
- Ask for feedback on proposed changes
- Use patient input to guide improvements
- Keep members informed about what has changed as a result
