Autism

Support is available for children, young people and adults with autism, with or without a formal diagnosis.

You do not need to see a GP to access many of these services.


Neurodiversity Hubs

Neurodiversity (Neuro) Hubs provide support for children and young people (up to age 25) and their families.

You can access support without a referral or diagnosis.

They offer:

  • Advice and guidance
  • Drop-in sessions
  • One-to-one support
  • Group sessions and workshops
  • Help before and after diagnosis

There is a Derby hub based at the St James Centre.

Local support

🏛️ Council and NHS support

If you have a diagnosis of autism, you may be able to access support through Derby City Council.

This may include:

  • Advice and information
  • A Care Act assessment
  • Support planning

Support for families and carers

Support is available for parents and carers, including advice and guidance to help manage day-to-day challenges.

Important information

Support is available whether or not you have a formal diagnosis.

Many services can be accessed directly without needing a GP appointment.
