Support during pregnancy

We provide care and support throughout your pregnancy.

If you think you are pregnant, please contact the practice so we can arrange your first appointment.


Contact your midwife

The Community Midwifery Team provides care during pregnancy and after birth.

They are based at London Road Community Hospital.

When to seek urgent help

Seek urgent medical advice if you experience:

  • Bleeding
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Reduced movements (later in pregnancy)
  • Severe headaches or swelling
  • Any concerns about your pregnancy
  • Call your maternity triage team
  • Call NHS 111
  • Call 999 in an emergency

Early Pregnancy and urgent assessment (GAU/EPU)

The Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU) at Royal Derby Hospital provides urgent assessment for:

  • Pain or bleeding in early pregnancy
  • Suspected miscarriage
  • Gynaecological concerns such as abnormal bleeding
This includes the Early Pregnancy Assessment service.

Connected Perinatal Support provides specialist support for parents during pregnancy and after birth.

They offer:
