We are committed to using technology responsibly to improve the quality, safety and experience of care we provide to our patients.
As part of this, our clinicians may now use Heidi, a clinically approved digital documentation tool, during some consultations.
What is Heidi?
Heidi is an AI-powered clinical documentation assistant. It listens to the conversation between you and your clinician and helps create an accurate clinical note of the consultation. This allows your clinician to focus fully on you, rather than spending time typing or writing during your appointment.
Importantly, Heidi does not make clinical decisions, provide diagnoses, or replace your clinician’s judgement in any way. Your clinician remains fully responsible for your care and for checking and approving all documentation.
Why we are using Heidi
Using Heidi helps us to:
- Improve the accuracy and quality of clinical records
- Allow clinicians to give you their full attention during consultations
- Reduce administrative workload and duplication
- Support safer, more efficient care
By streamlining documentation, clinicians can spend more time focusing on listening, explaining and supporting patients.
Confidentiality and data protection
Your privacy is extremely important to us.
- Heidi is compliant with UK GDPR and NHS data protection standards
- Information is processed securely and only for the purpose of creating your medical record
- No information is used for training AI models without appropriate safeguards
- Your clinician reviews and finalises all notes before they are saved to your medical record
If you do not wish for Heidi to be used during your consultation, please let your clinician know. This will not affect your care in any way.
